What are Club Sports?
Club Sports are organized athletic teams offered at a university or college that allow students to compete competitively with other universities and/or colleges. Club Sports offer a unique opportunity for students to engage in the sports they love, while also learning and exercising a great deal of leadership and teamwork skills, as each club is student run. Students are directly responsible for all aspects of managing and operating a successful organization.
How are Club Sports funded?
Each Club Sport receives a yearly, general allocation from the University to help offset the cost of expenses. Each team charges dues and is encouraged to fundraise throughout the year to support their program.

Some clubs have coaches, but they are not required.
How do teams travel to games and how far do they travel?
Teams have the option to drive themselves using their personal vehicle, contract an outside rental company, or rent a university vehicle. Some teams also travel by charter or school bus. There are many teams that fly to competitions. Most teams compete, on average, about 2 hours away from campus.
How do I become a member of a Club Sport?
The requirements will vary from sport to sport. Some sports have tryouts, while others are open for all to participate. Contact the team leadership for more detail.
How much commitment is required to join a Club Sport?
The level of commitment varies from team to team. Leadership from the individual Club Sport will determine the level of commitment. Teams practice, on average, 3 times a week and play on weekends.Â
