General Learn to Skate Camp Information

Counselor Groups: We organize our counselor groups by age. Skater's will be assessed the first day of camp to determine which level they will be in for on ice classes and show number. We can only have a certain number of people within a counselor group, and once we begin the camp, it is only possible to move a skater to a new counselor group if we have room.
*Friends may not be together depending on age. If you have a request for skaters to be together, please email bellac@udel.edu and I will try to accommodate your request.

Arrival: Camp drop off is from 8:00am-8:30am each day, we cannot accommodate an earlier drop off. You must sign in your camper each day. During this time skaters will get dressed, report to his or her counselor and be ready to start at 8:30am for the day's activities.

Departure: Camp pick up time is 4:00pm each day. Skaters will only be allowed to leave with people that have been listed by you on the Pick-Up Permission Form. You must sign out your camper each day.

After Care: After care is from 4:00-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, which can be added on for an additional $70 per camper per week. After care is NOT available Friday June 26, Friday August 7, and Friday August 14.

Daily Schedule:
Learn to Skate/Freestyle Track: The daily schedule will include on ice and off ice classes that will focus on introducing the basic skills to those that have never skated or those who have taken lessons before, as well as working on skills/jumps/spins for more experienced skaters. The classes are designed for ALL skating abilities as classes are divided by skills level, then by age (if needed). At the end of the week, skaters will showcase their skills in a show for family and friends! Other classes will include off ice games (inside and outside), water games and time at the UD Outdoor Pool!

Learn to Skate to Play Hockey & Hockey 1 Track: Skaters interested in hockey can join the Learn to Skate to Play Hockey & Hockey 1 Summer Camp track of the Learn to Skate Camp. The main priorities for the Learn to Skate to Play Hockey & Hockey 1 Summer Camp will be to develop skating and create a foundation for taking their hockey game to the next level. On ice classes will include a focus on skating and different drills to get more confident maneuvering on the ice, as well as hockey skill to work with pucks; shooting, passing, etc. At the end of the camp, half ice and full ice games will be played to incorporate skills they have learned into a fun and "competitive" environment. Other classes will include off ice games (inside and outside), water games and time at the UD Outdoor Pool!

Snacks & Lunch: Please don't let your camper leave home without a few snacks, lunch, and beverages. We also recommend a water bottle which can be filled at the water bottle filling station.

Camp Dress: You will need to bring full skating/hockey attire for the on ice classes. Athletic wear and sneakers are required for our off ice activities. Bathing suits and towels will be needed each day for water games and swimming.

Friday:
Learn to Skate/Freestyle Track: Campers will showcase group numbers starting at 3:30pm on Friday.
Learn to Skate to Play Hockey Track: Campers will play a hockey game starting at 3:00pm on Friday. Family and friends are welcome to come and watch!
