AT HUTCHINSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Two-year starter for Coach Ryan Schmidt at HCC... named the 2017 National Junior College Athletic Association Player of the Year as well as an American Baseball Coaches Association Gold Glove second baseman, All-NJCAA First Team, All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC), All-Region 6 First Team and KJCAA Western Division Most Valuable Player... as a sophomore in 2017, he set the single-season school record for hits (111) and led the nation with a .487 batting average and 103 runs... ranked second in the NJCAA in on-base percentage (.567) and eighth in slugging percentage (.829)... added 17 doubles, five triples, 17 home runs and 73 RBI in 60 games... led the KJCCC in batting average, hits, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and runs… batted .416 with 64 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 58 RBI and 25 stolen bases in 57 games as a freshman in 2016... holds the career (200) and single-season (11) hits records at Hutchinson... sophomore he helped guide the Blue Dragons to their best season in program history, tying the school record for wins with 47 while claiming the KJCCC West championship... the team reached a program-best No. 3 national ranking and reached the Region 6 title game... played for the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League in 2017... batted .303 with 24 runs, three doubles, two triples, four home runs, 14 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 35 games... selected to play in the TCL All-Star Game and earned All-TCL Second Team recognition.
 
AT LINCOLN PIUS X HIGH SCHOOL: Holds the single season hits record... state champion in 2014 and ‘15 and state runner-up in ‘13... hit .471 with a .514 on-base percentage, 40 hits, 10 stolen bases, 10 doubles, one triple, one home run and 18 RBI at the plate and posted a 4-0 mark with five saves, a 0.93 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 30.0 innings... named All-USA Nebraska First Team as a pitcher by USA Today and All-Nebraska First Team by the Omaha World Herald and Super State First Team by the Lincoln Journal Star as a utility player as a senior in 2015... hit .439 with 11 doubles, three triples, one home run, 22 RBI and nine stolen bases at the plate and posted a 6-0 record with a 0.18 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 39.2 innings as a junior in 2014... selected All-Nebraska First Team as an infielder by the Omaha World Herald and Super State First Team by the Lincoln Journal Star as a utility player in 2014... also played basketball as a guard... played summer baseball for Union Bank.
 
PERSONAL: Michael James Helman was born on May 23, 1996 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Tim and Annette Helman... nicknamed “Joey”... has two cousins, Jeff and Joel Makovicka, that played in the NFL … has an older brother, Evan, and a younger sister Mackenzie... sister plays basketball at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska... enjoys playing golf and video games.
